Day 1
A first walk through the capital, including the lively Atlantic fish market.
Day 2
A ride on one of the world's longest trains, crossing the desert at dusk aboard the open ore wagons: a raw, unforgettable experience.
Day 3
Arrival in the Adrar region and the oasis town of Atar, with a briefing on the area's caravan history.
Day 4
The ancient caravan city and seventh holy city of Islam, with its medieval manuscript libraries slowly being reclaimed by the sand.
Day 5
A UNESCO-listed ghost town of stone, half-swallowed by the desert, best seen at sunset.
Day 6
Crossing the dunes by camel and spending a night camped under a truly untouched desert sky.
Day 7
A lush palm oasis and natural springs, before the drive back toward Atar and Nouakchott.
Day 8
End of expedition.
