Day 1
A first look at this lakeside city on Lake Kivu and a briefing with the park's team.
Day 2
A climb up the active Nyiragongo volcano, with an overnight in shelters above the world's largest lava lake.
Day 3
Descending the volcano and transferring to the Mikeno sector, accompanied by the park's rangers.
Day 4
A full-day trek through the jungle to spend an hour with a habituated mountain gorilla family, one of the most extraordinary wildlife encounters on Earth.
Day 5
A visit to the memorial honoring the rangers who've given their lives protecting this park, and a conversation about the work of conservation here.
Day 6
Return to Goma. End of expedition.
